ORION EXPEDITION CRUISES

Founded in early 2004, Orion Expedition Cruises has developed voyages to encourage guests to become a part of the region they are discovering.

Orion is a purpose built vessel designed to access the inaccessible, all in 5-star luxury. The ship combines the best and the latest in design with maritime and environmental technology, comfort and casual elegance. From the ice-strengthened hull to the chilled champagne and superb cuisine, this is expedition cruising at its finest.

Described as the latest in the quest to build the perfect expedition vessel *, all Orion’s staterooms feature ocean views and offer internet access, flat-screen TV, DVD/CD, a choice of twin and queen sized beds, a sitting area and marble bathrooms. Other on board amenities include a health spa with gymnasium, sauna, sun deck Jacuzzi and a stern marina platform.

Orion offers a range of included and optional Shoreside Expeditions designed to enhance the destination exploration for our guests. From Camel Safaris in Broome to snorkelling over pristine coral formations, there are many unique opportunities for guests to visit areas of Australia that even most Australians don’t get to see. As part of our commitment to offering guests an enriching experience, on board speakers have been selected for their knowledge and expertise on the regions they visit. Guests are invited to attend presentations in the 90 seat Lecture Theatre.

Our innovative expeditions are year-round and vary with the seasons:
- Summer (December to February) Antarctica and New Zealand and sub-Antarctic Islands.
- Autumn (March, April) in remote and unspoilt parts of Papua New Guinea and Melanesia.
- Winter (April to September) in the Kimberley and Arnhem Land.
- Spring (October, November) we return to PNG and explore Australia's East & South Coast.

We would be delighted to have you join us on a voyage to some of the most wonderful but rarely seen places on earth.

JOKE OF THE WEEK

A specialist is someone who knows more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing.A General Practitioner is someone who knows less and less about more and more until he knows nothing about everything.A pathologist is someone who knows more and more about everything until he knows everything about everything. But, too late.

Cunnad's Queen Elizabeth Maiden Voyage

Cunard releases the Maiden Season of Queen Elizabeth which sold out in just 29 minutes.
That’s all it took for the maiden voyage of Cunard’s much-awaited new ocean liner, the Queen Elizabeth, to sell out after it went on sale worldwide at 8 a.m. ET.
Cunard says the frenzy for the first voyage of the 2,092-passenger ship, a replacement for the recently retired Queen Elizabeth 2, set a new record at the line. Never before in Cunard’s 170-year history has a maiden voyage sold out so fast. The October 2010 voyage sold out even more quickly than last year’s final voyage of the QE2. That sailing sold out in 36 minutes when it went on sale in June 2007.
Cunard today also put five more Queen Elizabeth voyages scheduled in 2010 on sale, and the line says those trips sold heavily, too. In all, more than half of the space on the ship’s six 2010 voyages sold within the first two hours of Cunard’s phone lines openings.

2010 – QUEEN ELIZABETH MAIDEN SEASON LAUNCH
With the introduction of Queen Elizabeth Cunard will be celebrating a new golden age of ocean liner travel. This gracious new Cunarder will take up residence in Southampton in October 2010 and embark upon 6 thrilling maiden voyages including her Maiden Voyage to Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands. As sister ship to Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth will recall the rich heritage of the first Cunarders to bear the name with details and features from her predecessors Queen Elizabeth and QE2.
Her art deco flourishes will echo the legendary golden age of ocean travel and the activities she offers onboard such as traditional supper clubs with dancing and a Cunard Classic Film Club, will captivate regular Cunard guests and those new to the brand alike. Her opulent public rooms include a soaring and graceful Grand Lobby stretching over 3 decks with stunning curved staircases, and a double height Queens Room with specially commissioned stained glass panels, ornate balconies and an intricate wooden dance floor. Her new Garden Lounge, with its fabulous conservatory style roof inspired by the glass houses at Kew gardens, will offer dining and dancing under the stars, and the spacious Games Deck will offer a range of unique activities including lawn bowling, croquet and paddle tennis and will play host to refined and elegant garden parties.
Queen Elizabeth boasts a new Britannia Club Restaurant which offers guests staying in AA Club Balconies a luxurious and elegant single seating restaurant, introduced due to the popularity of this concept on Queen Mary 2. She will also provide more flexibility for families with a selection of 4 berth staterooms.
During her maiden season she will cover a variety of destinations including voyages to the historic Mediterranean, the charming Canary Islands, the enthralling Aegean and a Maiden Season Christmas voyage to the Caribbean. This glorious new addition to the fleet marks the next glittering chapter in Cunard’s great history.
